Biography

Although she initially trained as a Classicist, Siobhan returned to her first love of singing after her degree, completing a year's choral scholarship at St Martin-in-the-Fields. She trained for two years with Sybil Michelow, then following a shift in fach, she moved on to train with Justin Lavender, and is now studying with Linda Hutchison.

In 2004 she made her solo debut recital at the City Lit with a programme of German and English song, followed by a recital in French song in early 2005. 2005 proved an interesting year as she was the soloist for the Hanover Choir's Summer Concert, played a variety of roles in the City Lit Rep Company's production 'Scenes of Love and Laughter' (including Maria - West Side Story and Velma - Chicago) and in the autumn appeared as the lead female role Beth in the London premiere of the musical 'Catchy!' and at the North London Festival of Music and Drama (May 2005) she was awarded 1st prize- Oratorio Class and a Distinction- Opera Class where the previous year she won the Dinah Brooks Cup for the most promising young female singer.

Siobhan spent much of her time between 2002 and 2006 singing as part of an a cappella trio, 'The Madrigirls,' who enjoy performing beautiful sixteenth century English, French and Italian Madrigals. In 2004 they sang at the Hay-on-Wye festival and had a sell-out show at the Edinburgh festival, going on to record their debut album in 2005.

In 2006 she moved on to develop her voice for the operatic stage by undertaking a Diploma in Opera Studies at Birkbeck College, studying roles such as Eurydice - Orfeo ed Eurydice, Mabel - Pirates of Penzance and Micaela - Carmen, graduating with a Merit in July 2007.

Siobhan performed in the Thursford Christmas Spectacular in 2007 and in 2008 spent much time developing her teaching and exploring performing ideas which lead to the creation of 'Scarlet Opera' with fellow singer Jodie Kearns. Siobhan sang the role of Euridice in Scarlet Opera's debut production - Gluck's 'Orfeo ed Euridice' at Jackson's Lane Theatre (October 2008).

Also in 2008, Siobhan was awarded the Esther Salaman scholarship to perform at the Dartington International Summer School, in Peter Maxwell-Davis' Sea Elegy in the presence of the composer, with Paul Daniel conducting the Dartington Festival Orchestra.

Siobhan also regularly plays the organ for Sunday worship at St Boniface (German speaking Catholic Church - Whitechapel).
